HOW TO MAKE Hazelnut Spread
Make your own hazelnut spread with this simple and delicious recipe, and get an adult to help where necessary.

- 150g Hazelnuts
- 350g Chocolate (half dark and half milk)
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
- 3 tablespoon Icing Sugar
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- Pinch Salt
Method…
- Preheat oven to 180c and roast hazelnuts for 8-10 minutes on a lined baking tray.
- Once removed from the oven, if the nuts have skins on them, place them in a clean cloth and rub them together until the skins come off. Leave them in a bowl until cool.
- While the nuts cool, chop the chocolate and place in a bowl over a pot of hot water, stirring until melted, and set aside to cool.
- In a blender, blitz the nuts until they are smooth. Stop every so often and scrape down the sides and blitz again. This step takes some time, so be sure that the motor doesn’t overheat!
- Add the oil, cocoa powder, icing sugar, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Blend until the mixture becomes as smooth as possible.
- Add the melted chocolate and blend again until smooth.
- Transfer to a sterilised jar.
